My good buddy Javier Hernandez had his comic El Muerto (the Aztec zombie) made into an independent movie - THE DEAD ONE
The DVD is released today, thus the title "Day of the Dead One"
Javier was kind enough to ask me to contribute a piece for the artwork collection that's included as a special feature... several pieces from various artists with their take on Diego de la Muerte, aka El Muerto, the main character of the movie/story.
(Yes, my artwork is included on a DVD!! )
The DVD is loaded with other comic book driven special features, and the movie itself is a neat adaptation of the cool concept and story starring Wilmer Valderrama, so be sure and pick up or rent a copy of the DVD now amigos!!!
Side note/Photoshop tech question: I created the file in Photoshop CS/8, and somehow got the lineart (as a seperate channel) set up as red, instead of black as per the norm... so while working up the colors with the red linework, I got attached to it with that affect... However, upon applying the red lineart channel, I could only get it to apply as black, which looked like shit.
Sooooo, that's why there's no line art, I liked it better without the lineart, as opposed to the black.
However, anyone know how to get Photoshop to apply the line channel in a different color?
I couldn't figure it out (and no, creating it as a layer doesn't work, it's not near as clean as it needs to be)... though, it seems like I tripped into how to do it after I moved on, and now don't remember... ??
Jason, I am proud to say, is one of my great friends! Super awesome guy, a great and inspiring talent, and I'm lucky to have met him a couple of years back at San Diego Comic Con!
Viva El Jason!
