After seeing John Carter in theaters, it was a shame to see what a bad rap it got, with it being an epic sci-fi blockbuster that was fun yet a bit flawed, but certainly not flop worthy. I wanted to do a fan art, and decided to draw Dejah, as a bit of a mix of her film design, and more classic Burroughs elements. It was never finished with colors, so I decided to wait until the DVD/BluRay came out, which was yesterday...

Hopefully this will inspire more folks to give it a chance, it's really quite good (and Woola steals the show).

Nice! I agree, John Carter is a very fun movie. It did not deserve the bad rap it got. I blame Disney, for totally marketing it wrong. It really should have been titled 'A Princess of Mars' - DISNEY failed to use the word 'princess' when it had a legitimate reason to use it. Shocking!

I love this piece.

yes, it was mis-marketed all around indeed... it's funny, we got the Blu-Ray, and they even have stickers on it to add a little marketing blurb "a warrior from Earth that fights on Mars" or something... hilarious. Yes, it might be a good idea to give folks a good idea of what your movie is, it's place in history, and the creators involved in bringing it to life :)
