TRON?

Who all's seen Tron (Legacy)? What'd you think?

We saw it yesterday, and perhaps because I'd heard the lack of positive buzz, I found it rather enjoyable... thought it was a great time.
Not really a great movie, but the visuals were certainly awesome.
I wasn't really blown away, or fully immersed with the 3D like with Avatar though.

It was really just a remake, same exact story, with the layers of the father son dynamic, and Clu replacing the big bad program.
And just like the original, it's all pretty cold and emotionally detached.
But a fun update, and great and often thrilling sci-fi ride.

Major gripes would be the Zuse character, I certainly got what they were going for there, but wow, was that miscast! (Michael Sheen?!? How does this guy keep getting these genre roles he's wrong by a wide mile at?!? I know he's a great actor, but yeesh.)
And yeah, the Clu/young Bridges effect was problematic, to say the least. I mean, I can almost admit it works as he's a program that's off from the original, but then they should've cg'd the whole body, as his head, besides being plastic and dead, was always out of sync with the live action body. It looked just like the dreaded Zemeckis animation, and not at all like the X3 young Xavier/Magneto (that from what I recalled, worked pretty flawlessly)...
Also, the whole Tron arc felt forced, serving story, without any reason for it to happen otherwise.
(LOL, not to mention the complete Dark Knight swipe at the begining, damn!)

But great visuals, fun story, and great sound, in a return trip to an uber cool place.
So, when's the next one?

i liked it. and the more it sinks in afew days later, i like it more. its a simple story but i like it better the most of the starwars remakes. lets see how the animated series looks. i think their gunna try and compete with clone wars

Yeah, I like it alot.
Just wish the cast had more chance to grab you..

Is the cartoon supposed to be CG? I hadn't heard, other than they're doing it, and it bridges the two movies, and has a big voice cast...

i'm waiting for the DVD but i wont have a thing said about Sheen, he's awesome, did you see him in the 3rd Underworld film.. one minute he's a buff semi-naked werewolf king humping a botox vampire princess on top of a castle and the next he's tony blair lol love him.

BUT i have just given up expecting anything, i thought Solomon kane might be a bit dodgy and it was way better than i expected, i thought i was gonna LOVE Where the Wild Things are and fuck me it left me wanting to commit suicide, i was so depressed by the sad ending...i'm crying and feeling doomed just remembing it as i type :(

gonna go cry now

OH and lets have a sketch card swop

lol
Sheen is awesome, but not here, and definitely not in Underworld... he's acting wayyyy out of type. To believe him as a badass werewolf is beyond laughable :) no matter how well he does it.

No idea what Solmon Kane is, except books/comics by the Conan creator...
We havn't watched Where the Wild Things are yet... no more spoilers :o

and swap what, existing cards?

lol he was great in that underworld movie, it was everyone else who was dodgy... the great thing about Werewolves is you can be anyone, and this happens to you, and for most of the month, your still you, unlike Vampires who die, become blood hungry monsters obsessed with PVC haha

The Solomon Kane film... it's based on the comics and actually has good sword fighting in it, i was worried it would just be him fighting blokes in gimp masks but theres evil witchs that change shape and have magic, zombies (proper ones that live underground and eat the living, not the modern hollywood shit, demon eyes and a big arse demons a few times.
Think a dark Vanhelsing without the comedy and a fuckload more rain haha

DONT WATCH Where the Wild Things are... i'm still suicidal

Scketchcard Swop, you do one for me, I do one for you :P we mail them to each other, i've done 3 or 4 so far, their really cool because we both get an exciting presant in the post :)

I saw tron legacy today. It was okay and it was fun to watch. Better graphics than the old tron. It was interesting to see them doing a young bridges. I guess george lucas can do that on princess leia, han solo and luke skywalker on episode 7 to 9. I'm pretty sure he will do new star wars movies after 3D releases.

Well I know Lucas was in the news recently for supposedly buying up rights to dead movie stars... so he's suspected of making plans with that.
I dunno what his supposed plans were for 7-9 or whether they'd need to be tied to likenesses of the original trilogy cast?
But man, the release plans I heard for the 3D versions would put that a longgggg ways off... which may be good for the technology, but that would be putting him up there in age...
